I just found a site thanks to lifehacker.com called Complete Running. Lifehacker had a link to run better by using a 3:2 ratio. A nice quick read. If you change your breathing ratio from the normal 2 steps for inhaling and 1 for exhale (2:1) to a 3:2. You will run with a lower heart rate and run faster.
I will try this out over the next few weeks and see how it goes.
